These 2 pictures are pictures of a Chinese restaurant. I chose these 2 pictures because it has showed Chinese culture became part of Canadian Identity as everyone can see that there are a lot of Chinese restaurant at Markham. Chinese great immigration every year had made Canada to accept Chinese culture, but most of them are Cantonese. This falls to Category 1.
Most Chinese people
start to immigrate to Canada in the 1800s, because they though they have
political, personal, religious freedom, they have greater economic
opportunities. Canada had opened the gate to Chinese after U.S. did. Canada encouraged
Chinese labour to immigrate to Canada to assist building railways. In 1885,
Canada Parliament start to charge Chinese and South Asian the "head
tax". Canadian Citizenship Act in 1947 allowed wives and children to enter
Canada, but until 1967, Canadian Citizenship finally restricted the legislation
based on nationality, ethnic groups, class or area of origin.
